I see advertisements for kits to grow Morel mushrooms and they say that if you follow their directions you can grow them anywhere in the US. I understand they are especially difficult to grow. Will this work in Connecticut?

Well, what I have seen tells me to grow them outside in a 4ft by 4ft section of yard. Not inside.

Yes it will work. You will need to remove any grass or other plants from a patch of ground about 6 feet by 6 feet per kit purchased. Then obtain some pine branches and pile them on the plot to be innoculated with morel spores. Set the pine branches on fire and let burn until mostly consumed(you need to leave some branches partly unburned). Spread spore medium (sawdust with spores) on the plot before January and for the next several springs you will get Morels. I know that Morels grow wild in the northeast, so you should have no problem. ENJOY!!

Hallucinoginic shrooms, right? I've never seen kits, but if you want some just take a trip to any place there are cows in Spring after a rain. I live in Missouri and these things pop up all the time. The stoners I went to high school with loved them. I've never been one for things actively growing out of a cow pie though, lol. But make sure you go with someone who knows what they are supposed to look like. There are more poisionous mushrooms out there than edible.

Out side in a small patch that you have cultivated for morels via the instruction of your pack. Dont get impatient it may take 2 to 3 years before you see any mushroom fruit's.

If you can follow directions and can wait up to two years, you can do it. I ordered some books from Paul Stamets at Fungi Perfecti. I was very impressed. This guy is the best Mushroom authority around.

Should work out -- you will be growing inside in a controlled environment (like a dark closet or basement), so it doesn't really matter where you are located. Just follow the directions VERY closely. I used to do this in New Jersey and had a nice crop -- it's fun! And people think you are really odd when you show them -- distinct advantage!!

Well, they grow wildly here in NJ, so I'd reckon you can grow some in CT.

Just make sure you make some mushroom bisque after you harvest them....

I don't know about Morels. You should try growing Psilocybe Semilanceata, Psilocybe Cyanescens, or Psilocybe Cubensis.
