In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Potatoe Pa taa toe there is a story (fable) behind things that the masses can not understand. We live on a living planet. A planet that grows and changes and gets sick. It is not a rock floating in the sky. The planet was flooded not by god, but because it was time to wash it's self. 2012 is coming and I believe this will happen again. Al Gore calls in global warming , but really thru the ages and ages the earth has gone thru these cycles. I wonder what fables about the flood are told from a different religious perspective in ancient times. I think these cycles are what makes evoultion possible. Merry Holidays!!!! Spread Love in some big or small way today, watch those seeds grow!!!!

Yeah blame the devil for everything like these people are doing. Lucifer = angel of light Light = enlightenment. maybe these people should wake up. People keep killing in the name of a Loving God then blame it all on Satan for everything whether its war or whatever. Some people sure are dellusional. Btw he flooded the planet not cuz he felt like it but because there was too much sin on the planet and GOD couldnt handle it. Same thing with Fire in sodom and Gommorrah. You'd think GOD would find some other way to deal with this.

The Bible says the heart of men is desperately wicked.
The result of sin on the human nature allows us to destroy our own selves, we don't need God to do it. God in His infinite wisdom will eradicate sin so that we can live in harmony and peace. With sin we will ultimately kill ourselves and God knows this that is why He must remove it from the universe. God didn't invent the concept of Hell for humans it was meant for Satan and his angels. Sin will be cast into Hell when he comes so let us let go of it before we are destroyed with it.

then again why should you follow a God who loves you enough to send his only son to die for your sins. the only reason he caused that flood was because the men on the entire earth were being extremely wicked and he made a promise that he would never do it again. and actually satan killed everybody on this entire planet when he tricked eve into taking the fruit and that caused man to die.

Do not judge God by the ridiculous books written by men. Believe what you want, of course, but the bible is in no way about God or Jesus.

Well if you read the History Book Bible, you will know the reason behind the flood. All those people could have been saved they were told and they choose not to listen, and they suffered the consequences of their action.

No,not ironic.A righteous God avenges sin.He kills sinners.
Matthew 10:28-31 "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell."
So what are you going to do about it ?

A good parent doesnt just let his kids do what they want. He disiplines them. He gave the people of that time a chance, and they refused him. So, he started over. I would to if a planet I had created and blessed so much had done something stupid like them.
