Well, according to the Jewish tradition and scripts, there is only one god.
This god converse with his created people directly seldom, and he's served by other "bru'im", created-ones, called "mal'achim" (plural of "mal'ach"- angel): "messengers", or "emissaries".
Gabriel is one of these messengers, and althoug he is well respected in the Jewish tradition, he is not considered more divine than you and me.
