I think step mom is jealous of step daughter beauty and is trying to play it down so step daughter will cut her hair to keep her less beautiful and maybe dress less sexy so step mom will feel prettier. Step daughter should stay away from her and not listen to her and do what she feels is pretty for herself. God bless!

I am a step-mother to 2 beautiful girls I proudly call "my daughters". I also have 2 children from my previous marriage and a son with my husband. Insulting a step-child in my opinion is a direct reflection of jealousy for their birth parent. If I put down my step daughter, I am directly insulting her Mother. I think it is insecurity on the step mothers part. If you truly love your step child, you can certainly give advice or an opinion without being verbally abusive. Verbal abuse is never OK no matter how you feel about a person. Being a step parent is the hardest most rewarding job I have right along side being a parent. I love my girls as my own. I suppose every step parent step child relationship is different.

Keep that person away from the child. I am a step mom and I think anyone who can talk to a child that way is scum. I love ALL of my children the same, whether step or not.

good lord, how can someone tell that to any child, especially their step children? poor little girl, that woman is going to leave some serious emotional scars on her.
i just can't imagine why people can be so hateful to children. i've been raising my step daughter since before she could walk, her biological mother is worthless, and i'm the only mother that she knows. i raise her alongside my own daughter as equals, they are both my entire world. i just can't understand how people can be so cruel to their own children.

A step-parent should try being a good friend to the child, being a good friend means making that person feel wanted, feel loved, and feel trusted. A friend wouldn't tell you something that will hurt your feelings unless it was to actually help you. In this case, it's her opinion and not something that will help her better herself, maybe she loves her long hair.

As a step parent myself I would never be so critical. Now if she talks this way to blood family then she may just be a blunt person who doesnt care whos feelings she hurts.i feel sorry for her family.

I think shes a Bi+ch....Thats the most rude thing you can say to someone - especially a child. Children are easily damaged by those types of comments. She should be ashamed of herself.

My reaction is one of revulsion at the cruelty of the woman. My thought is that the woman is very insecure.
