Gas prices are killing me. Is it possible to trade in Tundra for something with better gas milage and not end up paying more than the 15,000 I alread owe? Online source says I could get 16-19 on a trade in by a dealer. 1005 Tundra has 20 k and is in very good condition.

Kelly Blue Book, NADA, and Edmonds are books and the dealers may o may not use them as a guide. remember, dealers exist to make as much as they can.
They undervalue trades and overvalue what they sell (buy low, sell high) so these books really offer you nothing in the way of hope.
take the vehicle in and find a car that you like. negotiate for that vehicle WITHOUT A TRADE!
then go back another day and negotiate for your trade.
GET BOTH IN WRITING AND GET THEM TO PUT A VALID UNTIL DATE ON THESE PAPERS!
GO back a third time with BOTH papers, and get the trade in that they promised AND the price they promised.

Only way to find out is to try to trade it in and see what you are offered. I'd also check out www.edmunds.com. their trade-in (wholesale) values are closer to reality than KBB.

Also, if there is a Carmax near you, consider trading with them. They generally pay more for your vehicle. Take the cash they give you and pay off your loan, then go somewhere else and buy the vehicle you want.

try doing two different transaction. Take Tundra to places like Carmax to get an appraisal or place where they sell Toyota or trucks.

If you trade in your truck and get new vehicle in one transaction then mostly you won't get a good deal.
