My youngest will be 2 in April and she already wants her ears pierced. I had her sister's done when she was 18 months after she kept trying to "wear," my earings. Now my baby is doing the same thing. I want to get them done because she seems to want them just like her sister did. I don't know if I should wait a little while longer or go ahead and get them done.

Mine were done when I was 2. So obviously i'm not really that against it. As far her her taking her earings out; I got her sister's done at a jewelry store that uses safety earings. Those are the ones that it is next to impossible to get the backs off. My oldest has had the same earings in for a while and they have never came out unless I have taken them out to clean them.

My mom had mine done when I was a kid before I had any say so in it. I do not wear earings to this day. I think you should wait until she is old enough to ask to have them pierced. That way she can remember having it done and it is something she will have wanted. If I would have had a choice, mine would never have been pierced.

I had my daughters ears pierced when she turned 3 months old. Personally i felt that if she was used to having them she would be less likely to play with them or pull at them, which she never touches them. Anyways I think if you are willing to spends the money and time to take care of them then go ahead... if not then i would tell her she has to wait until she is a little bigger. I had to wait until i was in grade 5 and i was ok with that. As long as i knew i could get them when i was a big girl!

My parents got mine done when I was 2 months old. They have been open ever since but I rarely wear earrings.
I had my daughters pierced when she was 11 months old. She doesn't play with them or anything, she just likes to look at herself in a mirror now.
I say pierce them when you are comfortable with getting it done.

in some cultures,
piercing is de rigueur
as a newborn

"i" think,
since it's such a personal decision,
that the child shouldn't be pierced until s/he's old enough read up on it and make the decision for him/herself.

my daughter
(17 for two days now)
doesn't have pierced ears
and she's happy to be unique in that way
--she DOES have a pierced nose and belly button
which she's also very happy about.
(she got her belly button pierced first, at age 15)

To be honest, I wouldn't let my daughter have hers done until she was old enough to take care of her ears herself...that was 8 years old! And, I was concerned she might, before the age of three, get them out and swallow them. However, if you already have one girl's done, and didn't mind doing the work, I would say go for it. It's nice when they're small, 'cause they don't remember the prick so much.
Have fun with your two girls this holiday season! :)

I got my daughters ears pierced when she was two she is four now and she said they hurt and will not wear them. my mom waited to get mine pierced til I was in first grade and I still wear mine. I think it depends on your daughter if you trust her not to mess with them then i say go right on a head.

I think thats a good age to get her ears pierced. I don't think she's too young. If she wants her ears pierced then go for it
