It was inspired by God, but still written by man. God himself did not write it and since men have free will we cannot be certain.

I think that you have never read the Bible you are using Blasphemy by having that terrible comment under your avatar picture. The Bible is a Holy Book! Jesus is the Son of God. Emmanuel is another name used for Jesus because it's meaning is "God is with you".

God (and Jesus) have several "names" - when they say "call him Emmanuel" you need to translate it back to the original language, and you will find whats said is :"call him "God with us",
meaning that he was saying that this child is the son of God, and yet will be present with us. The Bible is an incredible Book, and doen't require any interpretation of man - every single part of it interprets itself - every question asked in the Bible, is answered in the Bible. The problem is, most folks (esspecially so-called christians) sit in church pews every week, and yet have no understanding of what the Word really does say. There is so much tripe being taught, and church rules and traditions that are not coming from God, they are the rediculous ideas of man. Its no wonder people run away from religion. God says when he returns he's gonna visit the churches first, and he's gonna get the supporting beam of the building and crash it down on their heads. Thats not me, thats God talking. So don't form an opinion on what you hear preachers of today yapping about - God says that He didn't send them.

Jesus Is called many names in the Bible Emannuel is simply one of them. God is not a Liar and Jesus really was Gods son. And God did "Help" write the Bible he Inspired it. The New Testament However was simply his Disciples interpretations of what happened in Jesus' life, I'm not sure exactly who Wrote Revelations but He was given a vision by God through a dream of what is to happen when Jesus comes back and it's simply his interpretation of that Dream.

Great question! First, the passage you are talking about is Matthew 20-25.
1. In this passage an angel told Joseph to name his son "Jesus" because he will save his people from their sins.
2. Then verse 23 refers to the prophet Isaiah-"Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a son, and they will call his name Immanuel" which translated means, "God with us."
3. When Mary had the child they named him Jesus.
A couple of thoughts:
1. If Matthew was lying, would he contradict himself in the same couple of sentences? No, especially not in writing a very specific and detailed account of the geneology & birth of Jesus.
2. Jesus, was his name in reference to his saving people.
3. This prophecy is mentioned here "Immanuel" to refer to his deity. That is where Christians and prophets get the phrase & view, "God in human flesh". Human name-Jesus, but deity.
4. In Jewish culture, many people also have two names. My buddy Abraham is also called Allen.
5. Matthew is pointing out both the humanity & the deity of Jesus in this passage. That is Matthew's purpose with the two names.
6. Notice the magi's response to seeing the baby Jesus in verse 11 They reconized both his humanity & his deity...something interesting here is that they were heathen people.
Hope this helps with you quest for truth.

Back in the day a name literally described the person who owned. Yes, his name was Jesus. The Bible also said that he was be called Emmanuel, which means "God with us." That's exactly what Jesus was...God with us.

Inspired does not mean 'correctly'. One can be 'inspired' to write music, that does not mean that one has written the EXACT music that one has heard. Personal variations and proclivities colour each person's revelations.
Look at the various saints recognized by the church. Taken together, it would be a madhouse of contradictions and conflicts. So how can the church recognize people's actions and thoughts, even when they conflict with doctrine or practice?
Mother Theresa is close to becoming a saint (not sure where the process is at) but its not like the wealthy catholic parishes donated all their funds to her cause when she was alive. Why would catholic parishes not entrust their funds with someone so obviously blessed and motivated to do God's work? A lapse in judgement?
Although God does not lie, God allows for lies to exist. God is generous, but God allows people (and institutions) to be selfish. The bible is not, and does not, contain absolutely every truth god has to say, but there is enough 'good' within the book that God decided that it was worth having.
People, places, things are created for the good they do, and endured for the bad they do. If there are no trees, there are no trees to fall on anyone, but there are also no trees to give shade or fruit. God endures the falling tree to allow for the shade and fruit.

When interpreting the Bible you have to remember that it has been translated from another language and from another time. Some words have different shades of meaning than what we are used to. Just like the Bible says, believe in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. This does not mean to believe that His name is Jesus Christ. In Bible usage, "the name" of someone doesn't necessarily merely mean his name like Bob, Clarence, or Sam. It means everything that defines that person, that makes that person who he or she is; much richer than the way we mean it. So to believe in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ means to accept that He is who He said He was and what His purpose is. In the same way, when the passage says His name shall be called Immanuel (meaning God with us), it is saying that one of His attributes that defines Him is that He will actually be God incarnate, and dwelling among us, affirming His deity.

Nope...it may have been inspired by God, but written, interpreted and voted on by Man...
Thus it would make man the Liar and God still is good old perfect God.
people who think the bible is perfect forget the fact that it was voted on by a committee...poor things are deluded
we are all the sons and daughters of God...thus making Jesus son of God...but still, silly goose, Man wrote the Bible...it is a book...written by men...about God and how we should, by its philosophy, live our lives...good stuff...but still written by people who are just as messed up as you or I.
