the engine heats up fine. the cooling system builds up pressure, and all the hoses are getting hot. yet all i have is cold air coming out of the vents? please help it is getting cold in nebraska.

You might have a clogged heater core. But you could also have a bad set of HVAC controls.

Have your local dealer check your vehicle out. In the meantime, try using your A/C controls, moving the temp back and forth from hot to cold. If you don't notice a measureable difference, it's probably your controls or the fuse for your controls. Might save you a trip.

You need to first check that the heater valve is opening and allowing hot water into the heater core. with the engine warmed up feel both heater hoses (small, about 1 inch, hoses going from the engine compartment in the cab) are both just as hot as the radiator hoses?

Also there is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) from Nissan reference little or no heat:
TSB# 02-047A dated 8/13/2003 Poor Performance Heater.

Check with a dealer to see what they would charge to perform the TSB.

Check your anti-freeze level. It may be low.
