I've still got stuff from Y2K. Is it safe to eat?

It's probably ok. Generally, if there's a problem, the can would bulge or dent - bacteria inside would create gas that exerts pressure on the inside of the can.

Unless you're starving, or this is a super-expensive canned good, you can toss and get a new can. This is probably wax beans, right?

Canned foods should be kept in a place that is clean, dry and cool. Organisms can grow if cans or jars are damaged and air gets inside. Never eat food from cans that are swollen or leaking. These are possible signs of botulism. The food could contain a rare but deadly bacteria.

Probably safe as long as the cans are in good shape. May taste funny ... be safe ... toss it.
