If I were you ..I wont change his last name.....and I wont ask such a question to anyone....It's me who is going to take care of my cat .and it does not mean that he has to do whatever the other suggest or I wanted him to do...
You know your cat since the early age and he is being known as his own last name ....its like habit for him...he might get upset.I am sure...do nto change his las name ...please...I also have a cat and i relaly love my cat sooo much.

That's what I was thinking about one day. I never associate a last name with an animal, but for vet purposes, I think you should becuase after all, he is part of the family & shouldn't be left out. He would not be mad. He'd definitely feel more welcome in the family.

my pets have always had my last name (i've had 5 different last names!)....the critters have never seemed offended by having their names changed

do you call him by his full name? if no, then he probably won't care. it'd be a good idea to update the billing information at the vet and other places you visit.
