People in poor physical condition such as people with flat feet would be classified 4-F and excluded from service. Other exclusions would be curved spine bad knees or back. Poor eye sight could get you out of the draft. You could apply for a waiver if you were in college or the only provider for your family or the only child of a family. You could be waved if you had an important job at a factory or if you were a farmer. Several of my family got off with these ailments or waivers.

Ditto on the other posts. I believe the military code for a person physically unfit for service was "4-F".

You need to get a copy of the song "Alice's Restaurant" to get the full idea of what an induction physical was like.

At least the last crop of anti-war protesters had cool music....

They aren't drafted. In the military if you even have the flu the day you are checked up by the doctor you're automatically disqualified. Believe it or not but even the smallest medical problem can disqualify you. You have to be perfectly healthy in order to be in the military. Even in a draft and that includes then and now.

A person with a severe physical problem of any kind was
classified 4F, unfit for military duty. The same would apply today.
If that is what you are worried about.

MERRY CHRISTMAS and have a nice day.

Thank you very much, while you're up!!!!!!

No they will not take you if you are handicapped like you say. During Viet Nam ppl were trying all sorts of stuff. They had to prove their handicap, by going down to the selective services office. That way they can class you.

They did not draft people with physical limitations. Also they did not draft gays or women. You have to be healthy to join or be drafted.

he would be excluded till he was deemed fit to serve, then he would have to serve. if you mean a permanent disability, the he would be excluded from the draft, what was then classified as a 4 F. (former usaf sarg)

You still had to pass a physical. Back in the old days, you could pretend to be queer and get out of it.
