Once, when I was 6.
The haircut was fine, but she also snipped my right ear.

I have, and i used to be one myself. We did hair in school while we were studying to get licensed. Now some of the girls in the class were definetly not ready to do hair on a real person but they were made to. I would suggest that you get a stylist that has nice hair themselves and that act confident. I learned that the girls in my class that never had their own hair looking nice and was always asking the teacher for help w/ absolutely everything never ever did a very good job. It was like they didn't want to be there. But there were more girls who knew what they were doing a did a great job than girls who didn't. Everybody needs practice and you can get a really great cut/style for very cheap. If these stylists-in-training are already accepting clients then you should be fine. Let me know how things went!

I got this done when I was 14, I'm now 26. The woman did a really good job! They have to start somewhere so why not get good practice on real people. Some people that have been doing hair for years can still mess up on your hair or take it out, so it should be fine.

Its not too bad so long as its not too technical a cut. Be prepared to sit longer than usual though as the trainee is guided by the teacher along the way so there is a lot of stopping and starting. But they will never do anything bad, and if there is a mess, the teacher will correct it.

what you need to remember is that all hairdressers were trainees once. ive bin a trainee stylist for 3 years now and im my opinion we do a better job that most highstreet salons, as we take our time and we hair tutor/teachers guiding us the whole way through the treatment.
as im a student/trainee, i always have my hair done by my fellow trainees and have never experienced any problems

I've had it done twice. The first time was really, really awesome. I also had my hair coloured by a colourist in training, and I loved that hair cut. More recently, I got my hair cut by another trainee. The only thing I said was "NOT a bob. NO bobs. PLEASE NO BOBS." and she gave me a bob.

I don't think it depends so much on where you go, but more that you make sure and double check with the stylist what you want.

Yeah....the trainee was a friend's relative....she worked at this really upscale salon that charges ridiculously high rates. I wouldn't go there otherwise, but this girl needed volunteers....so I went. I have a pretty simple style, so not much chance of anyone messing it up.

I've had mine cut and coloured by a trainee and it was fine. I wouldn't have known she wasn't fully qualified by the result.

There also tends to be a qualified hairdresser at hand to supervise and ensure that they are doing the correct job.

yes and i have really dark brown hair and she put highlights in it with bleach and it went yellow. but she died it back dark it was awfull i didnt bother letting her cut it.

dont let a trainee do anything drastic just stick to a blowdry something that doesnt involve colouring or cutting.

Once, my friend and I both went, both of our stylists did a great job. Listened to how we wanted our hair, and pulled through. I would recommend it to a friend, but I still like my regular hair dresser.
