My son is turning 1 and I made the mistake of inviting too many friends with their kids, now I don't know how to occupy them for 1.5 hrs. The kids range from 1-8 and there will be around 9 or 10 of them. Its also at a clubhouse since I didn't have enough room at home. All I can think of is forking over money to a clown or something but I would rather not...Any ideas? Big OOPS on my part!

jamie don;t do that. we invited about 8 kids for my daughters party. one of the parents volunteered to be the clown (always ask, save some some money) and another parent offered to bring party games and activity ideas. always ask the parents. especially if the the parents have children older than yours. it will help

Coloring or easy craft kits....
For my youngest daughters 1st birthday.... we did a color activity, a foam craft door hanger (1.50 each at Michael's crafts), opened presents, and ate cake & ice cream.
I had kids from age 1 to age 8. They were all occupied well enough.
I had gotten my daughter a big bag of legos, they played with that the remainder of the party, until parents picked up.

Your son is probably just starting to walk so isn't it supposed to be about him? A person dressed up like Barney, or Elmo, would probably be the best, and a pinata for the rest of them --What kid doesn't like to hit and get candy? Clowns are too frightening for your son and others close to his age.. Pin the tail on the Donkey is always a hit, or clown on the nose, etc..

You could get a bunch of arts and crafts that range for the differant ages. Art is always fun and fairly cheap. You can also play muscially chairs or any other kid game. Good luck!

a 1yr old isn't going to know the difference between an expensive party or a cheap one. they probably won't even remember until they're 3 or 4.

you can always ask the other parents for help arranging activities and snacks.

check out this site for ideas on how to entertain the other kids.
