I have lost 10kg so far (3 weeks) on an almost no carb diet, I eat lean meat lots of salad and vegies a moderate amount of fruit and allow myself a small amount of carbs every now and then.
Hope this helps, Merry Christmas!
Ok, reality check for those of you who are saying this is dangerous or that you loose muscle, check your facts!!! This diet was prescribed for me by my endocrinologist, I'm diabetic!
As long as you eat small amounts of carbs you are perfectly safe, and, furthermore, the only way you can selectively make your body shed fat instead of muscle is by cutting down on carbs, which incidentally people eat far more than they need of anyway!

No carb diets will make you lose weight. You eat meat, eggs, cheese, no fruit, no corn, no peas, no potatoes, no squash, no pumpkin, the other veggies are okay, no sugar, no grain products, no milk, no yogurt, no ice cream, no sweets.
On this diet you will lose mostly water and muscle tone and will gain most of the weight back when you start eating carbs again. Your body will also be more fatty and less muscular, even after you lost the weight.
Also be aware that as a result of not getting carbs, your body's preferred source of energy, it will produce a toxic byproduct called ketones as a result of getting its energy only from protein. Ketones, like any toxins, can make you feel nasty and give you bad breath.
In the ideal diet you lose fat, not muscle and water like you do in the Atkins diet. Losing 1 or 2 pounds of fat per week is the best way to go. The reason why everybody here tells you to exercise is because it builds up the muscle to replace the fat you lose. If you don't exercise, then when you gain the weight back your body will replace the weight with fat. Muscle is more metabolically active than fat, and burns calories for you. Fat doesn't it. And remember, Atkins promotes a fatty body.

Amelia is right. No carb diets are seriously dangerous, PLUS they are not a permanent fix. It is not wise to never have carbs in your diet for the rest of your life, and as soon as you start eating carbs again, you'll gain weight back, often leading to a period of depression, following a second shot on the diet...it's a vicious circle.
Keep in mind that the good Dr. Atkins hauled off and died of clogged arteries from all the meat he ate.
The only way to lose 20 pounds fast is to take those diet pills, and if you're gonna do that you may as well invest in some crack cocaine or methamphetamines.
Go see a nutritionist, who can set up an appropriate diet for your body type and personal chemistry, but there is no HEALTHY and SAFE way to lose weight fast.

I don't know if you've heard of the "Fat Smash" diet...but the first 9 days of it are a detox phase. Basically you're eating all fruits and veggies, lowfat yogurt, and brown rice. You drink pretty much only water. I didn't think I could do this for 9 days, but after the first couple of days, I realized I was going to be fine. After the first 9 days I lost 11 lbs. I then went to the next phase, and lost more, but had I stayed in the detox phase, I have no doubt that 20 lbs. would have been only a few more days.
I wouldn't recommend doing no carbs, because you're losing alot of nutrients when you do that, and its not healthy.

I've done the no carb thing...and it was the hardest thing for me to stick to. No bread, or anything of substance, I found. Also, I was CRAVING sugar. Its great that you can eat all the meat you want, but you will feel the need for a cracker, or a piece of bread, or rice or pasta.
My suggestion is that you put your head in the game first...because then, you can control your thoughts and urges. My next suggestion is that you focus on vegetables to fill you. Fill your fridge with carrots and green beans. They will fill you, guaranteed. Take 'meals' out of your mind....and simply eat small bits throughout the day. Low fat crackers and cheese - but not too much. A small pita with tzatziki sauce - very little, just for taste. Cut up a tomato, some cheese and a little fat free salad dressing. You need to graze, not eat. I lost 47 pounds in 3 months with this method, and it has stayed off. I know, I know - its not healthy. Whatever!

Just so you are aware--a no carb diet is dangerous and can actually kill you. I tried it twice. I tried Atkins and both times I had a very serious and terrible experience. It is dangerous to put your body into a state of ketosis. Going zero carbs is stupid and pointless. Now if you want to go good carb vs. bad carb and simply limit your carbs--that is another story. But cutting out carbs totally is not a good thing.
My experiences were years ago and since then I've become better educated in nutrition. I now work as a nutritional consultant.
Why the need to lose the weight so fast?

I found a great way to lose weight fast and keep it off. I do body cleansing. I lost 13 pounds in 9 days and then 28 pounds in less than a month. Cleansing will help the body get rid of toxins. Toxins come from a lot of things like fast food, pollution, food additives and preservatives etc. The toxins get stored in the fat in our body. To shrink the fat, we have to get rid of the toxins by cleansing. This made sense to me and I decided to try a cleanse program and it worked. The weight came off fast and this kept me motivated to keep going, not like other diets where the weight loss it too slow. To learn more call the toll free number 1-877-587-4647 or check out the website. Cleansing was good for me. Good luck whatever you decide to do!

pills..drugs...food..everyone misses the most important aspect..exercise...if people would exercise more they would not have to worry so darn much about food...Are you really serious about doing this? We are talking about hard work. Putting down your little debbies, getting off your butt and not only going on a diet but EXERCISING!!! Even if you lose the weight it will come right back if you do not have the desire and motivation to not only look cute but to be healthy. it is going to take alot of inner strength I can assure you of that.
1.) eat 4-5 small meals a day
2.) drink lots of water
3.)exercise every day
4.) do not eat 4-6 hours before you sleep
