If he can fit in one seat he has the right... If he takes more than the standard seat to fly then he should have to pay for 2 if the plane is sold out... If it is not sold out they should seat him in a seat next to a empty one.

Come on folks lets be realistic here. The airlines get as many seats in to an aeroplane as they can. If your not prepared to pay thousands of pounds for a decent seat in business or first class then you get a seat that doesn't have enough leg room for the "average" person. You wouldn't spend thousands of pounds for a small seat to go in your living room would you, but you do to get on a plane?

I love flying, I am flying has many airlines i can right now i am in europe, flying.
I think that they should, if they stop using the problem has an issue. I am skinny, I am furstated when I take little room up and i get a fat taking my seat and his up. Without thinking about me only him. Some fat people think it is about them, maybe that is why they become obese, Sometimes flights are furstating, when you are pushed against the wall of the plane.

The airline are within their right to ask him to pay as they would lose out on the sale of that seat other wise. It is unfortuante but how it is. The reason a cild has to pay is because they are taking up a seat whether they fill it or not no one else can sit in that seat!!

No.
Now no offfence to this guy as I know a few people on the "chubby side" (not as bad as this guy if he takes 2 seats)
Bad luck, you got yourself into it. There is no advantiges for being fat. All are disadvantiges. Dont try it as you wont get off doing anything.
The resion he SHOULD have to pay two fares is that when these people take 2 seats, thats disalowing one other passenger to be on the plane (if the plane is full)

I think he's in the wrong. If he has to take up two seats in the airplane, and cost someone else more money for a different flight that could have sat in that other seat, then he needs to pay for those two seats.

It depends on what the average weight is in the UK and not what is the ideal weight of the average traveler. It also depends on whether the airline has been squeezing more seats together to an uncomfortable point.

i was checking in on American Airlines behind a huge man and the check in staff made him buy an extra seat, after a lot of arguing he agreed. I saw him again as I boarded the plane, the extra seat was on the other side of the aisle!

Anyone has a right to sue anyone, but he won't win. Ticket prices are per seat prices. I can't buy a single ticket and then lay down across three seats and take a nap. Same reason.

If the guy is so big he takes 2 seats he should have to pay for 2 seats - I don't see any reason he should be given 2 seast for the price of one.
