There are electric cars out there. We can't wait for the big car companies to build them - they don't want to do it. But there are many small entrepreneurs doing it.

Why doesn't anybody know these cars exist? Because small companies don't have the ad budgets to get their message out. But if you buy one, and spread the word, more people will buy them - the EVs will get better and better - and the rest will take care of itself.

I'm not a big fan of NEVs, those are low-speed electric cars like the GEM. NEV cars are limited by law to 25mph. All the cars listed below will let you keep up with normal traffic.

Don't believe the disinfo about electric cars polluting. Electric motors are several times more efficient than gas engines. Power plants burn fuel at much higher efficiency than your gas car does. And distributing electricity by wire is far, far more efficient than trucking fuel around the country.
*
All these efficiency improvements mean that the EV can travel further on less energy. That means much less pollution per mile, no matter what the power plants burn. Plus, a large percentage of electricity is now made from non-polluting sources.

Actually they are still making the "electric cars" but they're not for sale. Most of the "e" cars now made are for experimental uses only, but the good news is that you can get "Hybrid" cars from just about every car maker out there and these are just hyped up "E" cars with a little bit of gas to go along with it. Although I do believe that you can still buy an "E" car, I'm not sure where to get them and how much they cost. Best of luck.

Global Electric Motorcars (GEM) - You can find these at Chrysler dealerships.
