Make little slashes in the ham so they look like diamonds when you're through cutting them. You can had cloves to that and then brush a honey mustard glaze over it. Some people cook their ham in ginger ale, I cook mine in orange juice and a little water.
Other people put pineapple slices and cherries on their ham.
Another glaze that is good is the red cherry sauce you get in chinese food restaurants that you put chicken balls in, it's delicious as a glaze on a ham.

Take a knife and run it along the rounded part of the ham into the flesh about 1/4 inch. criss-cross in long lengths.

generally it means to "cut" I usually cut mine, just through the fat, about 1/2" down and it just makes it "pretty" you can do about 1" squares, kinda makes a "checkerboard" and then I put one whole clove in the center of each square.... mmmm good!
