Yes, it's the same way humans make freinds. Some people you get along with and some don't. Same goes with animals.

They most certainly can ... especially if introduced to the other species as a puppy or kitten.
I have a cat that I got at a shelter that was 5 years old, but who had obviously been raised with a large dog. When he walked into my home, he immediately walked over to my huge beast of a dog and rubbed all over him! Fortunately my dog was okay with it. That was two years ago, and they cuddle on the couch or on the dogs bed together all the time. The cat even complains if we scold the big dog!
Best bet is to start with a puppy and a kitten, but if you already have an older animal, then the second animal introduced should be very young, unless you know for a fact that they are tolerant of the other species. Be esp careful if you have a tiny dog that could be hurt by the cat, or a large dog that could hurt the cat.

Yes. Of course not all animals will get along with others but the dogs hating cat's thing is not entirely true. Dogs and cats both like to play. Cats run and dogs chase.
I have always had dogs and cats together and as a matter of fact, when my cat was a kitten, she acted as though my dog-an 80 pound shep mix-was her mom!
If you're planning of putting a dog and cat together, I would introduce them slowly as you would introduce any 2 animals who don't know each other.

if you mean can a dog and a cat become best friends then yes. because I have one cat and one dog and I got them both around the same time when they were still small and young so they could grow up together! Its harder though if you have one and dont get the other until one of them is an adult because they are not familiar with on another!
hope it helped!

we've 2 dogs, and desirous to get 2 cats - we sat contained in the living room with the dogs on the lead and allow the cats mull round! The cats were more beneficial status thier floor than the dogs even in spite of the undeniable fact that the dogs were thier first! i imagine its more beneficial in case you get cats and dogs at the same time and puppys and kittens are more beneficial as they havn't already grown up petrified of one yet another or understanding thier each and every others enemys! i'd propose each and every evening once you're taking a seat staring at the television close them contained in the living room with you and keep the dogs on the lead and merely enable the cat ask your self round! Pay the dogs a large number of atention and the cat will wnat some too and steadily come over! keep traets on you too! For both one among them! Ham ! sturdy success you'll favor alot of time and persistence

I have a Pomeranian and a Himalayan cat both 4 yrs old. I've had them both sense they were young and yes, they are best friends. They sleep together, the pom is the boss though, she's the female, and Coco the cat is the male. She keeps him in line, she thinks, and scolds him when he jumps on something he's not supposed to.
They are great companions to each other when I'm gone

Certainly, I've seen plenty examples of cats and dogs that love each other. If they grow up together domesticated in a house, then they might learn to like each other very easily. It's not a natural environment like in the wild, so lots of things like that can happen.
It's not the case with my dog though, he chases my cats around constantly.

Sure they can, lots of families have friendly cats and dogs. They think of each other as part of the family. I think it helps if they are introduced while young, or if they get used to being with other cats (or dogs) while they are young.
