An evil tart keeps nudging and poking me whilst I'm trying to do work on assignments. Should I respond with violence, reasoning or shine a powerful torch in her face and make my escape?

Reason with her, and if that doen't work tell her off without verbal violence or profanity.

Do not slap this woman. You said she is evil, it sounds like she would make the system work against you. Only hit her in self defense.
Take some time and write everything she has done to you down. Then immediately press charges on her. She struck you. That was a cowardly act on her part because you are a man and she knows that she could rake you over the coals if you fought back. If you are at school I'd report her to the authorities. I'd call the police on her. Absolutely, positively do not let your self be bullied by her any more.
If she hauls off and attempts to hit you, only then can you defend your self.

I wouldn't hit her because they would probably blame you. Stupid and wrong, but true. I would say something very nasty to the evil tart.

I would make her do the assignment for you. Then whilst she is doing it, hit her in the back of the head with some form of large fish. I would opt for a sturgeon............

It sounds like "sexual harrassment" perhaps you should just report it to her superior. Alternatively ask her on a date, she may not be so evil after all!
