I was wondering why? Because Jesus said, "anyone who follows me, will become a saint"., Something like that. So why does the church make their own saints....
Is it standard, for a Catholic faith, to go to Church on certain days, to give thanks to them?

You are right to word it that it is indeed the church ( the people) who make certain people saints. I suggest you really get into the Bible and read. Jesus said "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men", NOT saints. Anyone who follows Jesus is his disciple.... these days there are about 100 different translations of the Bible in English itself. Different words are used for easy references. I suggest that you read the Kings James Version as this is the first translation of the Bible into English. Also, the ten commandments clearly says that you shall worship only the LORD your God and shall not make any graven images or bow down to them. What gives us any right to worship anything or person when the Word is so plain and clear?

I dont think that Jesus ever said that. The Catholic church follows a process and strict guidelines when cannonizing saints. They dont do it very often. A certain number of miracles have to be performed, etc.

actually the catholic seemed to come to the belief that no one can become a saint unless they fulfillsome of the requirements.
in the beginning of the church there is enough proof that all members of the church were called saints before they were called christians. so the term of saint pre exists beyond the catholic church and their leaven of doctrines.
personally i think the catholic church is error with celebate priesthood, and with the declaration of saints and with the pope being infalible.

all men are corruptible! even the pope and prophets!
Marriage was ordained of God and paul wrote that it is a doctrine of devils to preach abstinance from marriage and eating animals. especially seeing that made adam and eve wife and husband and commanded the priest to offer up oxen unto god and commanded the priests to eat of the sacrifices.

I cannot understand the Catholic thing about saints, either. Then, neither am I a Christian, let alone a Catholic. My religion does not have saints. We worship only the One true G-d.

Though we are saints some are specifically called and set aside for full service of God. It is not every body who attend the mass that can offer long time full service to God. We may all be call to Gods service but only few are chosen. Many people followed Jesus but his chosen disciples were only twelve in number

No Jesus never said this and as for the Catholic church making Saints, it is by the authority vested in it by Christ who is it`s Head as it is His body on earth.

Why, if you make up your own church you can make up whatever you like.

Of course you will be in competition with God but some don't seem to worry about that while others don't seem to care that the promises are empty.

Much better to go for the real thing. There is only One who died for us and was raised the third day.

All Christians are saints, the question - though it does not say it - is about SUPER SAINTS. It is born in a tradition established over a thousand years ago.

The last Pope, I believe, doubled the number of Saints. Interesting I thought. Still that's their world.
