I used to tend bar years ago and I got those blisters because moisture stayed under the ring.
even sweat would cause me to break out.
The solution for me was a ring that had a white gold mesh weave around the middle that let air in.
Never had the problem again...
And the first ring was no cheapy, cost me $500 and that was 1978

That's weird!
I expect you've had an allergy test for gold; I don't expect such an allergy is very common, but I guess it could happen.
But, the first place I'd look is exposure to some new material that's getting lodged or washed under the ring. Have you changed soaps? Are you using a new chemical product? How about any new hobbies such as gardening that would bring your hands into contact with something unusual?
I sure wish you the best of luck; it sounds terrible!

My finger did the same thing..and I have only been wearing it for 4 yrs..TOMORROW!!! YIPPEE SKIPPY!! ~ And I found that it's caused alot by wearing it while showering, or doing dishes or using cleaning chemicals and it gets trapped under the band. This has NO air circulation so it causes a rash or allergy type reaction...try NO wearing it while doing house hold things..even showering. Your skin changes believe it or not like every 7 years...Things that I could eat as a child...I'm now allergic too! You may be getting too much moisture UNDER the band. OR there was a chemical IN THE product they used to clean the band..that you're allergic too!!

Like a pp said you can develop an allergy at any time...it can happen with food, metal, soap etc. etc. If it is an allergy there is not much that can be done...try to buy a sterling silver ring or platinum ring (depending on your income) wear it for a while and see if anything happens. If not get your ring replated with that metal

Occasionally, hand soap will get under the ring causing irritation.
Has their been any recent changes in your job or home regarding cleaning products, laundry soap, shampoo or soap?
Make an appointment with a dermatologist. If a dermatologist is unable to help you, make an appointment with an allergist.
To clean my jewelery, I use Dawn dish soap and it is as clean and sparkly as using the other cleaners and not as harsh.

Does the inside of your ring look like it should? I mean does any of the metal look discolored or maybe a little layer of the metal is worn away? If so, maybe that's why it is bothering your skin.
Like you said, maybe you are developing an alergy. Next time you go to your doctor, mention it to him.

Sounds like you've developed dermatitis. You can become allergic to any substance any time in your life. Try wearing it on the other hand and see if you get the blisters. If you do, call a dermatologist.

have you cleaned the ring before this time? soemtimes lotions or soap especially if new can get under the ring and irritate you. It may not be the ring itself that is bothering you is it a little tight? Because if it is tight it traps oils and dirt even more. try to look at any changes in your soaps or lotion. if not get a consult to a dermatologist and they can test your skin to see if you are allergic
