Have Santa leave a letter with a picture of it. (Print one off the net.) Have him say, "Dear Jane, I didn't have room for this in my sleigh, so I'm sending it special delivery after Christmas. Watch for a big box on your doorstep in a few days!"

Ooooh, I've actually been through this exact thing with a bike when my son was 4.

I put the picture of it in a box with a note from Santa that said "My elves are making you this bike and we'll surprise you with it soon"

I think he was more excited about that gift note than everything else we got him. He had other toys to play with on Christmas so when the bike finally came in, it was like another Christmas for him. We got the bike about a week and a half after Christmas and each day before it came he'd run to the door to check for it but he didn't seem to be disappointed when it wasn't there. I picked it up while he was sleeping and just put it in his room so it would be the first thing he saw when he woke up and he was beyond excited that day. I think the wait and the fact that he was getting a gift way after Christmas actually made it more fun for him. :)

If you have a time schedule for it you could take a pic of the powerwheel and put it in a card, include a tear off countdown of days for when you expect it to come (pad it a day or two so if it comes early, all the better) and let her know that it's delayed but on the way. Do it after ALL the other presents so that she'll have the rest of her Christmas gifts on her mind and will be somewhat distracted by them.

If it is from Santa, write a note from Santa explaining that he had a lot of request for the Power Wheel you got her. So instead of her getting it on Christmas, he will get it to her on a different day, special delivery. And when you sign it, make it different from your own writing. Even if she is not old enough to read, she can still tell its not your writin and will be even more excited because 'Santa' wrote her a letter.

Print out a picture of it on line! Frame it or wrap it somehow. Have her open the picture and tell her that its on its way! (Hate to break it to you but, we have bought two power wheels for our children and they both were junk! I will never by another one again! Save the box and parts in case you want to make an exchange or a return!)

tell her that the present accidently fell off santas sleigh so he had to go back and pick it up so it may be a few days late. that will still make it special. or else dont say anything at all and she will be even more surprised when it arrives at the door when shes least expecting it.

See about getting a picture of it and maybe if you are talented enough you can use your computer to superimpose her body on it. Wrap the picture up and explain to her that Santa will have a special delivery for her very soon.

one year my husband bought me a ring and it was not to arrive until after christmas so he cut out a picture and wrapped it in a box for me. i was so excited to know that i was getting it. but of course i was an adult and knew that sometimes patience is needed in life. merry christmas.
