I agree, I think its been created to ease the minds of parents who can't be bothered to try different approaches to parenting. It didn't exist for all this time, then suddenly it seems to have mysteriously evolved from nothing except the minds of a few child psychologists who have no better explanation. They go on about how giving a child drugs will cure adhd, but as far as I am concerned, giving a child a glass of whisky would do the same thing except its illegal. What rubbish.

It IS a very serious condition, however I do believe that some Psychiatrist are too quick to diagnose this condition, and alot of the time I do believe it is a misdiagnose.
However, my 11 year old step son is severly adhd, and other than his extreme hyperness he is a well behaved child. He just can't concentrate on his work at school because he is in sensory overload. He is never vilonet or rude, but he can't sit still for 2 min. Even watching movies he is fidgity constantly. So, your claim that it is just an excuse for "rubbish parenting" is completely out of line and accusing when you obviously are not aware of all the circumstances/types of problems related to this illness.
Like mentioned above I do think that dr's diagnose this way too often and often wrongly - it doens't mean that it is something parents made up - If you had a child with this condition you wouldn't have such a neg attitude on the topic however.

I do think that with ADD and ADHD becoming more common, in that more people know about them and that it's an actual problem. I do think there will be some parents who use it as an excuse, you can't really question what a child is doing if you're told he has an illness, which is what ADHD is.

I think the real problem is that doctors are over-diagnosing ADHD. Mental problems like ADHD, depression, etc, are all visible in brain scans, so there's no doubt that they're real, but like I said, doctors these days just seem to see a kid acting nuts and without taking anything else into consideration, make the good old standby diagnosis of ADHD.
I know a child who has it. His siblings are all perfectly well behaved, they live in a good home with discipline, boundaries and respect, but he's just not able to behave normally. He's now being treated by a naturopath, with great success.

Hello,
I do think sometimes parents USE ADHD as an excuse for their childrens behaviour.
I also know someone whose child has ADHD. Her son whose 14 can be quite disruptive, but on other days he's just like any other teenage boy. He has been dignosed with ADHD and hes on medication for it which has worked wonders with him. She often has people saying to her that she is just making excuses for him, but she really isn't. He would be ten times worse if he wasnt on his medication.

On one hand I do believe that alot of parents would rather take their children to the doctor in an avid attempt to find something wrong with their child, instead of realizing that their parental skills suck. But on the other hand, there are valid cases of adhd and I truly believe that the dr should be the one to make that call.

I kind of agree, I think some kids really have it but i think some are just spoiled and mean and their parents use that as an excuse to get SSI for them. It happens where I'm from. My child had epilepsy and a woman asked me the other day why I don't sign him up on SSI and I got really angry. I want him to feel normal and able to do what anyother child does, not label him because he has an illness.

Myself I really don't believe in this "disease" when I was a young girl if you we acted up we got spanked and learned our lesson. I think children today are just being let to do anything that want and are being treated like adults not children. So no I don't think ADHD is real, it is an excuse for parents not to discipline their children. No offense, my sister even says that her boy has it, and is even on meds., and he acts no better! What does this say?

Insofar as fairly some psychological interest has actual 'tells', i think it quite is available to study minds in a comparatively granular trend. i does not call it a 6th experience. you're quite basically utilising your 5 senses (or a number of them, because making use of the experience of style possibly isn't a ingredient of your established social interactions) and crunching the information accrued to deduce the undertaking's thought tactics.

I agree with you. I used to teach and in the main it was simple rudeness and no sense of self-discipline or personal responsibility that allowed many students to make a mockery of the education system. I blame the PC wishy-washy liberals who like to make excuses. No wonder the country is in such a mess and it will only get worse.
