As a Native American I'd have to say that, unless you have NDN blood in you, please don't get a tattoo to do with our culture. No offence meant but I get fed up of seeing peoples "Native" tattoos when they find out I'm Native and it's usually of a wolf, eagle or some random old guy wearing a headdress. It's insulting to our culture, as that isn't representative of how Natives live or did live.

If you are actually Native or have Native blood in you, then research your tribe and find out about their language, culture and customs. I'm Cree Indian and I've got a name of someone who means everything to me (no, it's NOT the name of a man before anyone says anything along those lines!) written in Cree on the inner part of my right arm. It's a way to remind me of my heritage and of that person. However, I did a LOT of research before I had it done, and I also took the time to make sure it was exactly as I wanted it.

There are plenty of other ways to symbolise your physical and emotional healing, if you already have two roses why not carry on with the flower theme? You could have a Lily of the Valley as they represent a return to happiness...or an Aloe plant! Ok, they're not as 'pretty' as other plants and flowers! They do represent healing though, and in Latin it's meaning 'true aloe' is considered to be "the most effective healer".

I hope you stay strong and good luck with your tattoo!

why a native american tattoo? are you native american? i'm not sure that the native americans had any tattoos that meant anything about depression or christianity or husbands leaving wives. why don't you just get something that means something to you? why does it need to be something native american?

Two chinese symbols meaning
Crisis and opportunity
From Crisis comes opportunity - depression, illness etc. create crisis...
You can google chinese symbols for both... you could place one above the corss and one below that way it all ties in.

On such personal matters don't ask others! It should be something that represents you and something you believe in and like it! My idea though is about a good fairy healing you with her stick....;-)
