Think about it for a second. The government continues the BRAC, cuts troop strength across all the services, reducing the amount money available to units etc, because there are too many of them right now. Why do people continue to think the entire US military is in Iraq? The fact is there is what, 120K military personnel in Iraq, out of 1.2 million accross the board. Why would there ever be a draft mentioned? We don't even use all our resources right now. What they mean by troop strength is stretched too thin, is that they need to add 20K in MTT's to speed up the process, and perhaps another few Brigade Combat Teams to support them(.) IMHO, I think the draft is a political ideaology founded upon marxist socialism, so the more liberal side of the political spectrum has something to attempt to control the people of our country, and unfortuneatly, quite a few buy into it.

There won't be a draft, we actually did away with that in like the late 60s or somewhere in there. The point is we won't have to worry about a draft for a very long time, unless someone is feeling heartless and wants to take all the able-bodied 18-25 year olds from their families.

Before instituting the draft, the government will ask all able-bodied war supporters between the ages of 18 and 42 to step forward and do their duty. That should bring 5-7 million brave convinced patriots on line, more than enough to do the job.

It can't begin soon enough. If the average American family had a stake in the kids that are fighting and dying in The Bush Follies..err the War in Iraq then we'd not have gone there in the first place.

The Selective Service should be activated, no exemptions from the draft other than health (not "other priorities") and troops called up to serve.

Just be glad there are already men and women willing to fight for our country without a draft. There will never be a draft, but it is still required that you register. Take a breath, step back and thank God there won't be a draft cause I don't want to fight next to someone who doesn't want to be there so they don't do there job and risk my life.

I don't even think the current batch of looney tunes we have in Washington would reinstitute the draft. There would be a middle class revolt, the likes which this country has not seen!

The last thing our country needs is a bunch of self centered ungrateful punks in the military. Our millitary is self supportive. No draft.

At present unless there are further developments it looks like the US will disengage in Iraq and a draft will not be necessary.
