i believe it was the emporer constantine who had a vision of the cross and decided that christianity was much too fragmented so his desire was to assemble all the leaders of religion and bring them together to form a book that would teach the basic beliefs of christianity.
this act can be seen both as an antichrist and as a believer in christ, because though ther ewere many books that couldve been bound together on a few were chosen. which meant the Othe books and manuscripts were KEPT out because of politics and manipulation. the book of revelation in the new testament was almost rejected because of politics and there was a more popular book wouldve taken its place, but it was called the appocylypse of Paul, Peter had a gospel too, i think that was rejected ! the old testament was already formed together by jewish followers so it was added but many prophets were killed as the tradition goes! and their writings were outlawed How many of them were unjustly murderered by conspiracy is also a question of debate. Not to many people know what these books are.
But the fact is that the bible as christians have it bound is purely a kindergarten book that begins the path of study and knowledge for certainly there are many libraries in existence! and for those that have the gifts of the spirit, the library in heaven can be accessed and visions and revelations can be obtained through faith and prayer and fasting. but always be aware there are false spirits in the world that will deceive the very elite if it were possible to do so

How did Jesus demonstrate His confidence and belief in Scripture?

Jesus quoted the Bible and stated that it was true.
Jesus said, "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone." "It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." "It is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." Matthew 4:4, 7, 10. "Thy word is truth." John 17:17.

Answer: Jesus quoted Scripture when meeting the temptations of Satan. He also stated that the Bible is truth (John 17:17). Jesus often quoted Scripture as authority for the truth He was teaching.

3. Do Bible prophecies confirm inspiration?

Before Cyrus was born, God's Bible prophet named him as the general who would overthrow Babylon.
The Bible says, "I am the Lord . . . new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them." Isaiah 42:8, 9. "I am God . . . Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done." Isaiah 46:9, 10.

Answer: Bible predictions of things to happen in the future confirm the inspiration of Scripture as they come to pass. Notice the following examples of fulfilled Bible prophecies:

A. Four world empires to arise: Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome (Daniel chapters 2, 7, 8).
B. Cyrus to be the warrior to capture Babylon (Isaiah 45:1-3).
C. After Babylon's destruction, it would never be inhabited again (Isaiah 13:19, 20; Jeremiah 51:37).
D. Egypt would never again have a commanding position among the nations (Ezekiel 29:14, 15; 30:12, 13).
E. Earth-shaking calamities and fear toward the end of time (Luke 21:25, 26).
F. Moral degeneracy and decline of spirituality in the last days (2 Timothy 3:1-5).

The 66 books of the Bible were written:
1. On three continents.
2. In three languages.
3. By about 40 different people (kings, shepherds, scientists, attorneys, an army general, fishermen, priests, and a physician).
4. Over a period of about 1,500 years.
5. On the most controversial subjects.
6. By people who, in most cases, had never met.
7. By authors whose education and background varied greatly.

Yet, though it seems totally inconceivable,
1. The 66 books maintain harmony with each other.
2. Often new concepts on a subject are expressed, but these concepts do not undermine what other Bible writers say on the same subject.

Before the Bible, it was a mess. There were a plethora of texts so the church got together and narrowed it down. Today, you can buy the Gospel of Mary Magdeline and other excluded texts. She referred to Jesus as her lover. The discovered some old texts that are now called the Gnostic gospels including the Gospel of Thomas.

This is an excellent question for Christians to do research and find out that the bible may not be what they think it is. I see you did not touch on translation. Did you know that in the original text there is no word for heaven? in many places in the bible heaven was used for the word sky.

the bible was put together by a committee

in Nicaea...look it up

you have NO certitude...it is called faith for a reason friend.

many books did nt make it in...it was political agenda to unify the many different radical christian sects developing....better to have one set of crazies than a bunch of different ones....we see how well that worked out.

Right, it was man who chose the books in the 4th century. I think we can know that it is authoritative in that God seems to be the same throughout. What the Bible says about who God is never changes. A creating, loving, redeeming God of justice and mercy. The people got it wrong alot, but God never stopped being God.

If I remember correctly, I believe it was the Roman emperor Augustus, who in the 4th century AD, collected most of the books that we see today in the Bible.

Wasn't it the Council of Nicaea, or something like that? Shortly after or during Constantine's reign as emperor of Rome?
