There are so many hotels you can chose from. The price varies and depends on what you mean by "reasonable price" and what do you consider "cheap". A rule of thumb - you get what you pay for.

try the link below for a list of hotel and the cost. I use this site to book my hotel for the past several trips to Bangkok and found it quite good. You can also read reviews of each hotel by people who have stayed in each one (just remember to take every review with a grain of salt. Some people can be rather petty with complaints) From that, you should be able to make up your mind which one you want to book

For something close to the city's main attractions try hotels around Siam Square, Pratunam, Petchburi Road, New Petchburi Road, Khaosan Road area, Banglampoo. But getting around to other attractions is no problem as there are lots of taxis and they are cheap ( as long as you tell them to put on the meter)

THE BEST way to get to the hotel from the airport is by a metered taxi. 99% of them are used to getting tourists into the city and they know all the hotels. You pay extra 50 THB for the airport charge and extra cost for the toll way - which you pay in cash to the driver as he goes through the tollgate (otherwise it will take twice as long to get into the city).

Don't know what solarchem (answer above) mean about taking the skytrain. I was in Bangkok only two months ago and the skytrain is NO WHERE near completion NOT EVEN close to getting the pylons up all the way there - unless by some miracle they can do it in two months!!

Do some more research on travelling to Bangkok. It will be worth the effort and you will appreciate what it has to offer even more.

Enjoy your trip.

The Bossotel Inn is very inexpensive (around $50). Tourism has been down after the coup, so you might even be able to get a room at the Holiday Inn which is much nicer than the ones in the US for under $100.
Most hotels can arrange a car to meet you at the airport, but if you're on a budget take the Skytrain. I know Bossotel is only a short walk from a station and they can certainly give you directions.

I recommend the Business Inn on Sukhumvit Soi 11/1 at 650 baht per night. Nice and clean room, clean bed, shower. Everything you need. This is right in the heart of the action and easy access to the Skytrain

When in Bangkok, you find that you do not spend much time at all in the hotel. Bangkok is a city where you find yourself running at all hours of the night and maybe you crash at your room and take a shower, then off you go again.

So why waste any more money on a room than you have to because with everything else in BKK, you will find having extra money saved on the room is a huge bonus. Plus once you find your way around, you will be able to see with your own eyes once you are here, where you really want to stay.

Visit www.visualthailand.com this site is a visual mini-tour of everything to see and do while you are here. You will be happy you did and can see and plan many things from the 1000 of photos, all current, of things to see and do.

Save the money on the room because you will barely be there at all and you will be glad you have that extra money, trust me.

Personal reccomendations from strangers aren't always the best, but when I was in BKK in 2004, I stayed at Big John's Guesthouse on Sukhumvit Rd. It was cheap, decent rooms, and a short walk to the SkyTrain. I met lots of fabulous people from all over the world and had a great time.

Thailand is fabulous and you'll be amazed by everything, but unless you're into opulent hotel experiences, it's better to keep your lodging costs down so you'll have extra money for all the great things to do and see!

The Peninsula, Mandarin, Shangri-l. a. and The Oriental are continuously rated because the numerous superb motels in Bangkok, if not the international. That being reported, Bangkok has distinct stunning 4-5 celeb motels accessible (i have in my opinion stayed on the Sheraton Grande, Westin Grande, Amari side highway, both Le Meridien motels, and so on.). i imagine it frequently relies upon on which section you want to stay in Bangkok, that's some thing you need to pick on to get the most of your holiday. close to the Chao Praya River? Sukhumvit? close to the river is large for surroundings, while Sukhumvit is large for buying and leisure.

One way of reading the comment above is that it is possible to take the Skytrain from the airport. They can't have meant that because that would mean they are clueless and don't know what they are talking about.

I won't inflict my recommendations for hotels/transport from the airport on you are there are a bunch of folks out there that like answering the easy stuff like that. Their answers will no doubt appear in the next few hours (probably sooner).

I hope you enjoy your trip to Thailand.

Well if you book in advance, I think they can send you a cab, or you can hire one from the airport yourself!

depends on the purpose of visiting bangkok.
i find 5stars hotels in bangkok is cheap enough compared to other places. my favourite is grand hyatt ( next to erawan shrine), four seasons and holiday inns where it is close enough to practically every major shopping malls, the patpong (night life) and its proximity to erawan shrine is enough attractition.
there are a couple of new independent hotels by the rivers over looking wat arun, wat pro and thai palace, but it is quite far.
