I was in foster care for ten years and what time has taught me is that sometimes when someone leaves your life, it is only so they can reenter it later. I am back in touch with two of my foster families that I had left as a child. One of them I lived with from age 10-12, left for five years and came back at age 17. They have been in my life ever since. It was hard losing them, but when the time was right, they were brought back in to my life. Please consider that there may be things these children need to experience for now that you cannot help them with. They may be back though, someday. Until then, remember them and the good times you had with them. This is the best way to honor your relationship with them. Have you tried contacting their new placement to see if you can have visits, provide respite or babysit for them?

Unfortunately sometimes bad things happen to good people, we just have to take life one day at a time, and accept the bad situations for what they are, opportunities to make the next persons life better.......take some time out for rest and relaxation, cry if need be, stay in contact with the children if possible, so that you know they will be ok......most of all talk out your concerns with someone who listens and that you know you can trust....

They say time heals all wounds. But in the meantime, allowing yourself to cry and making yourself busy will help.

I'm so sorry! Unfortunately kids all leave one way or another. Get yourself a puppy or a kitten.
