Scrap prices fluctuate, and the price a yard will pay is based on two factors. One is the price of scrap metal, and the other is the number of cars that they are getting.

Right now scrap prices are not too bad. I am getting $125 per car for every car that I sell to my scrap man. when scrap prices are low, and he can not pay me a good price, I let the cars sit in a storage area until the price comes back up.

If your scrapping a car try selling it for spares/repairs first.
Because most scrap yards will maybe give you £30-50 then they can either sell the parts and make a nice earner or they may sell it whole for about £100.
Some may even get a bend MOT and sell it as a runner but they are few and far between.
put it on loot or whatever for spares/repairs give it a month then scrap it

Scrap metal is at highest price for a while, so dont let the car go for nothing.. Its worth at least £30.00 Maybe up to £100.00 in scrap alone , depending on size of car . If its a sought after model then it could be worth 10 times that.....Dont let the scruffy thieving gypsy scrap dealers give you any less than that.....

the price on scrap is very high at the moment, a mondeo size car weighed in at a proper scrap yard will fetch £75- £80 but you have to remove the battery and tyres or they will pay you less

totally depends on what you are scrapping and where you live, where i live (Yorkshire) some places are refusing to take cars unless they know they can shift parts of them. But don't be conned by them as a friend of mine ended up letting the scrap dealer take his old car that he had been fined for having on the road with no tax for free. the car had 4 months mot on. he later seen the car for sale on a dealers forecourt for £500 !!!! when he went back 2 days later he was told it had been sold!!!!!
