It is the virus that causes AIDS. They undergo mutation very fast. And medicine in the market could not predict the mutation that the virus are undergoing or target on the rapid-changing specificity on the virus. Thus, it is hard to destroy the virus.

Well I don't know where you are getting your info, but there are good treatments for AIDS today. Actually to get right down to it some amazing break throughs have been made since the early 90's. Now we can help individual with HIV to possibly ever get to the point of AIDS if people can get tested early enought. However, a lot of people still put off being tested, and miss that point so AIDS becomes a likely senario. It used to be if an individual contracted the HIV virus AIDS was the individuals future. That is just now not really the case, and doctors are now focusing their efferts from looking for a cure to finding a way for us to become immune to this virus. This is proving more effective, and because of this switched mind set more effective treatments are being discovered. A person with HIV has a lot of options now, and if people remember to get tested than this disease does not have to rule a persons life. Only when HIV becomes AIDS that the treatment become minimal, and survival a lot lower because a that point a person is fighting more than HIV they are fight another opurtunistic infection. At that point an individual needs T Cells, a higher immune system, and something to decrease the spread of HIV. This is just tricky, and complicated because to much is going on.

Aids is a Virus and has many components that doctors and resaearch have not yet worked out exactly why and how Aids hits in your body, so the only thing they can give patients are medicines to combat the symptoms of AIDS. It's a shame really.

The virus had the ability to shed or change antigens. That is what the vaccinations use to lock on the target.

As you know it is viral infection and there is no specific drugs to kill viruses, antiviral medicines show some results but as it is continuously changing its strain you can not eradicate it fron your body.
