I'm very concerned about my husband. every 2,3,4 months his heart starts to beat very fast for like 1 or 2 min. He feels fine. he doesn't feel like fainting, he just sometime will have a cold sweat and he tells me that it feels like it's kind of choking him, but not to a point where he can't handle it. It just gives him a little shortness of breath. It's been going on for over six years and he's only 23 years old. Why is this happening? what can we do to prevent it? and is it something dangerous?

You have to bring your husband to see a cardiologist. Several factors can cause it. Some of it are: stress, anxiety, too much coffee or tea and insomnia. The rest could be caused by the nerves of the heart and probably heart defect.
When you see a cardiologist, he will do these tests: ECG ( to see the heart beat-it s very basic test), Echo (to check the heart mucles, whether he has mitral valves prolapse, hole in the heart, leaking of the valves, etc) and 24-Holter. This Holter is a small machine;will be attached to ur husband for 1 day. It will record his heart beat for 24 hours. Changes can be recorded from it.
All the tests are painless and accurate.

Most of the time;if its caused by the heart nerves-patients can live a normal lives. If its happen once in a while only, he wont need any medication. If its happen quite often-the cardiologist will put him under medication to regularize his heart beat.
im from cardiac line department, i hope my advice help you

The heart is a tricky thing. Make him go to the doctor, tell the doc his symptoms, and just to be safe, they will do a few tests on his heart. Just to make sure it is nothing serious. It is probably nothing serious, and is one of those things to where if you worry about it, it will probably happen more often. BUT if you take him to the doctor to find out what it is, that is the best way to resolve the issue. Could be something simple such as stress, anxiety, etc. Best to just go and find out what youre dealing with.

Your husband has this what we call a "tachycardia" so anything that is not normal must be consulted to a cardiologist so that you will be given an advice on what to do and not to do as well as proper management everytime your husband has it.Always remember that our heart is one of the major organs we have in our body so before things got complicated you better seek professional advice now.

Visit you GP. Don't take risks! Try regular exercise (Not to much mind. If it is serious, hard exercise could do more harm than good) or try Aspirin (It thins the blood making it easier for the heart to pump) but if that works then you should definitely see a specialist.

This can be controlled by medications. First, it is necessary to see where the impulses originate. A monitor can be worn to catch them. Paroxyms of tachycardia are not uncommon and seldom dangerous.
