OK...let me try and help my my friend. First, don't listen to the other people in here telling you that American girls are all whores that only measure a guy by the size of his wallet. OK some are but so are English girls, and French girls and Japanese and Dutch etc... that's just a stupid generalization by some dumped on moron with a limited vocabulary and imagination.
Of all the American girls, and all women in genral, I have been with and finally the one I married ( I am english by the way) the one thing I noticed is a good sense of humour works well. If you can make her laugh you're onto a good thing. Just be careful of sarcasm. American's don't really understand that too well in a humourous sense - they tend to take some things very literally. If 'she' asks you if she looks fat in what she is wearing don't sarcasticly reply.."Yup, looks like two pigs fighting to get out of a duvet..." She won't be impressed.
You have to take care of her and I don't nessassarily mean with your wallet either. Look after her and treat her right, don't be looking at every other girl you see when you are out with her. Make her feel special and make sure you respect her. Do the right thing by her and she will reciprocate for you.
American women are just like any other nationality really - treat 'em right and she's yours not to mention that American women are the sexiest in the world!

Wow, alpha, that's kinda rough but I think it might be true...because us Americans get "spoiled." Yeah, that kinda covers the greedy thing....well, anyway, I have absolute no idea how to get an American girl friend, but I think maybe you could just go up to her and talk to her. Get to know her, (unless she is one of those wild types who wanna **** you right away,) and then she'll like you.
