Sorry, forgot to specify which holiday. :-) Christmas.

But most of you figured that out, since it's coming up next. Thanks.

Have really nice appetizers. Make sure they are unique, so guests will feel you put a lot of thought into it. But also keep some staples around fro those that don't like to experiment. I'm a big fan of Less is More, so have some nice candles-NOT SCENTED (to avoid allergies) Place them all around the room. Have some nice centerpieces-Clear glass bowls, perhaps with some floating candles and cranberries. Maybe a pyramid of lemons and some white flowers.
Cheese plate with some soft ripened cheeses and some rose petal jam (you can find this in any greek or middle eastern market) Bread Sticks and Biscotti-Break the Biscotti yourself. Perhaps some nice anis candies.

Finger Foods you can make ahead of time, so you wont be stressed out for your party and you can enjoy it....Phyllo triangles stuffed with feta, spinach and sundried tomatos-make sure to drain your soinach off all moisture-Combine in a bowl and add 1 yolk-season to taste. Follow instructions for phyllo dough. Usually, I do three sheets, melted butter brushed on all the sheets, except the top one-cut into 2 inch strips, place a dollop of the mixture on and fold up like you are folding a flag-you can freeze these up to 5 days in advance in an air tight container and then bake at 375 for 15 minutes. The red and green is a nice compliment.

The day ahead, you can purchase some flour tortilla's and cut them into 1.5" squares and fry them. Season them with kosher salt. The next day you can put cream cheese on them with your favorite chutney, red pepper jelly or salsa. Or you can sear some beef tenderloin the day before-Make sure it is medium rare-chill and get some pesto sauce (or make it) and serve on these squares or little toasties. Trader Joes has a nice bruscetta. Artichoke dip-Hummus and red pepper wraps-you can also use spinach tortilla's for this...

You could decorate with Easter decor or Halloween. Hey, no one else will be doing that, plus you didn't specify which holiday.
