i'm in love with a guy, and have been with him for 2 years. The thing is i pretty much know it's not going to work. he was in the military and we have kids he wants to be able to hit them, 'hit first before they do something bad' and he is almost the same with me, he wants everything to be perfect so he tries to make me that way. i like to be free and just want to care and nurture our children. do you think that can work at all??

not much of a description there . . . does he hit you? or the kids (besides spankings)?? if he does, get out and get help!! there are tons of womens help clinics you can go to, or at least go to a friends . . . if that's not what he's doing, then don't be shy on adding details for us answerer's!! the clearer the picture, the easier the interpretation!

This is not because of the military. This guy has issues from his own upbringing. You need to get some counseling to try everything you can because you have children together. If I misunderstood you and you don't have kids then run for the hills. You don't need to be with a control freak. It could end up being dangerous.

Well, if he's going to hit you, then yeah you need to leave.

But, if he's not going to hit you and that's just a misprint, than I think you're pretty damn selfish. I'm a vet and military wife now and I know FOR A FACT how difficult it is to endure what your man's going thru. To think that a person such as yourself could be such a 'me-me-me' person, when HE'S the one busting his butt day in and day out, than you need to grow up.

If you didn't want to deal with this man, than WHY DID YOU MARRY HIM AND HAVE HIS KIDS??? Speaking from experience with military wives, I think you probably have just been hanging out with other wives who like to sit at home and whine all the time. You need to go find some GOOD friends who you look up too, not want to 'slum it' with. Your kids need both a mom and dad; don't leave just cause you feel like being a whiny wife.

Grow up and be a good example to your kids; LIKE YOUR HUSBAND IS.

Oh yeah, KIDS DO NEED A GOOD SPANKING! It means the difference between frat house and jail house.

A small spanking meaning no bruises or beating is ok if the child has done something very serious. But not for acting like a kid (i.e running and yelling in the house. not doing chores ) for other things kids should be punished. If your husband is controlling leave him because he will end up beating you.

NO! It will not work out. For the love of your children and for yourself form a life without this man. Your children are going to grow up thinking this is an appropriate way to treat people and it's not. Have girls? Want them to be beat? Want your son to end up in jail because he beats his girlfriend? Find a support group in your area and get some help. This is a good start. PLEASE help yourself and especially help your children who cannot help themselves.

sounds like his still is in camp with the marines. if you both want this and i mean both, some family consoling is a must. the kids have rights in this situation that should not be ignored. do what will be best for them in the long run without them going thru boot camp at home.

sadly.....no.

He needs some theapy and if you don't keep him from hitting the children for zero reason they will too.

and you could do with some to get that backbone straight.

Good Luck.
Sometimes the right thing to do...is to let go.
