anal fissures?

can someone offer some non surgical way of healing anal fisures that seem to come and go for the last 4 months???i was told to see a surgeaon, but there must be a better wwy

I suffered from anal fissures several years ago, and they wanted me to have surgery too, but I said no way. The surgeon cuts your rectum to make it wider so it doesn't hurt as much. I think that's ridiculous. I got rid of mine by eating a vegetarian diet and lots of water, which makes you basically have diarrhea most of the time, but it gives the rectum a break from hard stools and allows the fissures to heal. To prevent them from coming back, you'll have to eat more fiber and drink more water. Good luck. I know they're painful.
