Okay. So vegans, they don't eat meat. Got it. What about bugs? Do they count...?

Okay, can I ask another part? What if a vegan was an arachnaphobiac? What if said vegan was a bug-a-phobe?

"Can I ask something ridiculously dumb?"

- Sure. I doubt it will be even close to as dumb as some questions.

"Okay. So vegans, they don't eat meat. Got it. What about bugs? Do they count...?"

-Yes.

- It depends on the Vegan, If its possabe not to kill it then the "Vegan thing to do" whould be not to kill it. However if you had no other choise, say it was dangous in some way to you or your family, then it would be ok to kill it.
Understand that Veganism is not a strict practice of not harming other beings, but rather doing the best you can to not participate in animal, and human, suffering wile still living in the real world.

Vegans do not use any products that come from animals. Bugs are animals (which is why vegans avoid honey). Another product that comes from bug is a purple dye used in popsicles, candies, etc (think about that the next time you're eating a grape popsicle!).

As for whether or not they will kill bugs - not intentionally, and not unless they have to. If a spider is in my house, I will simply take it outside. I would only kill bugs if I had to (for example, if they infested the house), but I would do what I could to deter them from coming before resorting to that.

Depends on the Vegan, some Vegans don't eat meat because of the taste, others don't eat meat because they hate killing animals. If someone was the latter, they wouldn't eat a bug, because it would be killing an animal. If they were the first, it would depend on if they liked the taste of bugs.

I'm a vegan and no, I don't eat bugs. That's just gross. I also am an arachnophobe and I got this great thing called a bug vacuum. I can vacuum up the spiders and put the cap on and then take them outside and put them on a bush. Most of the time I ask my husband to do it, but it's powerful enough to pull a fly out of the air, but doesn't hurt anything.

I think it would vary from vegan to vegan. While Vegans do not eat any animal products or bi-products they don't have a "rule book" they follow. They just do what they feel is morally the right thing to do.
Plus, isn't there some statistic about how every person eats x-amount of spiders every year in their sleep?

Bugs are animals. Not in a literal sense but think of it like this, anything can be placed in one of three categories: Animal, Vegetable, or Mineral Vegans will not eat anything that comes from the animal category. Including by product such as cheese.

Vegans don't eat meat, or eggs, or milk products.
No animal products of any kind.
Ovalactarians eat eggs and milk products.
If you eat bugs, I guess you'd be a buggarian.
So no, vegans wouldn't eat bugs.
Intentionally.

Vegans don't even eat animal by-products like eggs or milk. So the definitely don't eat bugs either.

I don't eat meat, but I'd kill a bug, coz I believe it's an irritant, and a Pest. If I don't kill it, it will harm me and my environment (sort of like weeding a garden).

So, getting rid of the bad bug is not wrong to me. What is wrong, is killing some innocent animal. My stomach is not a graveyard, so I cannot stomach it and let it haunt my health.

God bless.

I'm not a vegan, but I am a vegetarian. I don't believe in mistreating any animal, or insect. But I'm also arachnophobia and have major freak outs over spiders. I will not quit till someone kills it. Can't help it. I start getting these images of spiders attacking me in my sleep and somebody just has to kill them.
So, yes, vegetarians have bug-related neuroses as well.
