in a heat stroke people don't sweat and will pass out or just be unresponsive...kinda out of it...what you acn do for them is first get them out of the sun IMMEDIATELY...then you will want to call 911 and give the person little sips of water...do not give them water if they are unconcious and do not give them too much...just little sips...otherwise you might send them into shock or throw of their electrolytes...

heat stroke is caused by dehydration only when somebody passed out can they not benefit from liquid. treat them by putting them in the shade and if in a building or under cover then soak clothing in water and use natural cooling effects of evaporation to help cool them down, Lastly use of fans, if available to expedite this situation and you will quickly lower the patients temperature.
Prevention is the key to prevent heat stroke and this is by drinking as much fluid as possible when you are in the desert as you can being careful not to over do it. we would drink about a 32 ounce canteen every hour and an sugar and salty food stuff when doing lots of walking and climbing,
