I went to bed last night and couldn't help but feel annoyed by this feeling. I woke up this morning to a nasty non-productive cough. I have already had a neo-citran, rubbed Vicks on my chest, had a hot bath and drank a green tea. I still can't get rid of the tightness.
Any suggestions would help.

I should mention that it doesn't cost anything to go to the emergency room, just my time. I'm only 32, could it really be my heart???

Possibly heart attack true, but on another note theres no need for a trip to the emergency room just a waste of your $. I suggest consulting your doctor on the phone immediately. However if you do get under-arm pain rush to the emergency room asap. Dont wait, but dont waste your money its based on opinion but consult your doctor.

As always take care,

how about the common cold? people with panic disorder or panic attacks are not immune to them. asthma induced by the cold is a possibility as well, especially if you felt like you couldn't breathe. (you may have undiagnosed asthma which is quite frequent) having congested sinuses is not a feature of your anxiety. nor is the mucus. the following symptoms "this feeling of tight chest and throat and lump in my throat, hard to breathe feeling" are features of anxiety but combined with congested sinuses and mucus make the common cold a more likely possibility. pneumonia, ie an infected lung, is less probable given the context. however, fever, chills, prolonged symptoms or abnormal breathing sounds on listening to your chest would make me ask for an x-ray to make sure.

If you feel that it is severe enough a tightness I would recommend a quick trip to emergency. Tightness in the chest is just one sign of a heart attack.

Granted you are probably fine (as most people often are), but as part of our first aid training we do in Australia, if a person has chest pain/tightness enough to be discomforting... it is strait for a checkup no questions asked.

That is the best I can offer I am sorry.

If you cough and start having tightness in your chest then I would suggest going to the doctor and asking for an inhaler. If you have had asthma before or any other kind of respiratory issues that may be the case.

Women get all sorts of different signs of heart attack, don't take a chance, Call your doctor, It could be a blocked bronchial tube or pneumonia. If all is well and I don't think it is ,then put a new air filter in your house .or apartment.
God bless .
