Go to the dollar store nearest you and buy a bunch of black and silver balloons and they will fill them up for you. just have them all over the ceiling and you can go to www.orientaltradingcompany.com to order some great party favors and such for about 3$ a dozen. Lots o' booze!

I sometimes think New year's is over-rated . First of all depends on the age of your friends.
In our twenties and thirties we usually went out to dinner with a bunch of our friends to a local restaurant. Then we 'd come home play games like Trivial Pursuit, it had just come out then. We 'd put on the music we liked and then close to midnight watch Dick Clark's Rockin New Year's Eve from Time Square.
Anyway why not decorate your house in silver and blue like a clear night . Have a disco ball or light that you can make look like the moon.
Pictures of NYC and the year's news makes on the walls , the news magazines will have them all starting now.
If you can why not hire a psychic to tell people fortunes and make it pot luck so that everyone brings something to the party in certain catagoreys like appetizers, main entree, desserts, salads, munchies.
Tell people to not make resolutions but predict what will happen in 2007, the most bizzare prediction wins.
Of course at midnight watch Dick Clark or whomever in Times Square, buy the goofy party hats and horns and have a great time. Make sure you have money for cabs if people drink too much or have designated drivers to take them home or better yet have a pj party where everyone stays over LOL.
Happy New year!

ALWAYS do finger foods! Make ham & cheese wraps, bbq and buffalo wings, meatballs in sauce, cocktail weiners, mini sub sandwiches, cold salads like pasta salad, taco salad, tuna salads, and chicken salad, have a relish, cheese and cracker tray, mini eggrolls, and deviled eggs. Have plenty of soda, punch, and desserts too. These things can be made at home in large quantities and pretty cheap too. This type of stuff goes GREAT for throwing parties. Go to www.recipezaar.com for FREE recipes on how to make this stuff. Just go with a traditional New Years theme with hats, champagne, party poppers, confetti, and sparklers. Do keryoke, play(couples) twister, card games, have a conga line and plenty of dancing. Just have fun!

Have a potluck and have your guests bring the food and drinks (or you can supply the drinks, if you want). Go to a local party store to choose a theme - they are pretty affordable.
