This relates to doctors in India

This question is about doctors in INDIA only. The reason I ask is because I am trying to find a doctor I can go see on my visit there and would feel better if I knew he has proper credentials.
I am aware of how to check MD'S credentialling in the USA.
Thanks for the answers anyways.

You need to ask him for his Registration number with the Medical Council of India.
The doctor cannot refuse you his Reg.no.
Also by Indian Laws,it is neccessary for doctors to have theri registration no. written on their signboards/prescriptions/contact cards/etc.

Not all doctors join the American Medical Association, although
this is a good place to check.
(My primary care doctor, in my humble opinion, is very good,
but is not a member of the AMA).

Most (mayble all?) states have sites where you can check credentials online.
Here in Ohio (through the state govt pages at www.oh.gov)
the State Medical Board is at http://www.med.ohio.gov/ ,
just click on Consumers...and look up the doctor's name..
It will tell you if his license is active, where and when she graduated from medical school, and if there was any formal action taken against him/her (remember, the doctor may be innocent in regards to formal action!)

Not an Ohioan?
Try Medical Boards by state...http://www.iatrogenic.org/complaint.html

Looking to check on board certifications?
Try..http://www.abms.org/
(One has to register, and is limited to 4 or 5 requests per day..
they have a disclaimer..that it is not 100% accurate)

The four volume print version of abms.org board certified
physicians may be available at your local medical, public, or academic library. Call ahead and ask for a reference librarian.

Hoping this helps!

Well you could ask him/her for their certificate......most docs hav it framed and put up in their clinics.

this is assuming its a true certificate....

if its not true...and ur desperate to find out u could check wid medical council or the medical college/university from which the certificate was issued.

Or the simplest.....if u really doubt ur docs credentials so much...DOnt go to him!
