I've also read that Garlic & Cayene/Capsicum work well together to lower BP.
Hawthorn reportedly actually opens capillaries to lower BP, as well as helping the heart itself. Be careful not to use too much, as it is very potent! It is also sedative in nature, so I wouldn't advise taking it before working with potentially dangerous machinery, or driving!

There is no cure for high blood pressure but there are treatment options (to manage it)... there are various types of pharmaceutical choices - calcium channer blockers, diuretics, beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, lipid-lowering agents (statins)
There are also non-pharmaceutical approaches like reducing your sodium intake, exercising regularly, decrease fat intake, alter your attitude towards life (heart disease is related to a high stress lifestyle)...it is best to combine the pharma and non-pharma treatment, as advised by a doctor of course. Monitor your blood pressure and take note if you feel other symptoms such as palpitations, any chest discomfort or difficulty of breathing. Consult a doctor first before taking any medications...and it is important that you take the medication religiously
