It would have been normal for a jewish man of Joseph's age to have taken a wife prior to Mary. If he did and they had children, where were they?
For those who argue that Joseph and Mary had children after Jesus, Wouldn't that be an interesting bloodline to trace? Half siblings to the living God.

The siblings of Jesus are not listed at all as far as their age, or even their biological parents, Joseph kind of disappears from the picture in the youth of Jesus. He probably died during the teenage years of Jesus.

Jesus did have siblings but they were younger..They were the children of both Joseph and Mary. (The author of the book of James for example)

The myth of Joseph's children is something assumed by Roman Catholics to keep their myth of the perpetual virginity of Mary. They believe Mary was a virgin her whole life so Jesus's brothers must be step brothers. Protestants believe she was a virgin until she gave birth to Jesus and then had a normal marital relationship with Joseph.

The Bible tells us that Jesus had brothers and sisters, but they were not from a previous marriage of Joseph. The Bible states in the first chapter of Matthew that "Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took her (Mary) as his wife, and kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name Jesus."

Please note the word until. He kept her a virgin until. After that they had normal marital relations. That's where the brothers and sisters came from. Actually half-brothers and half-sisters.

So when Joseph and Mary went to Bethlehem and Jesus was born there, His brothers and sisters didn't exist yet.

Joseph and Mary did not have sexual relations at all before the birth of Jesus. Therefore, he did not have any other children at that time. Joseph and Mary did have other children, but not until after the birth of Christ. Peace.

Jesus was 'first born'...
The others came afterwards.....

Interesting thing is, according to the Catholic Church, Mary never gave birth to any more children.

It is actually NOT recognized that Jesus had brothers and sisters by all branches of Christianity. That very thought was considered 'heresy' until no too long ago. The was grounds enough to be excommunicated only 150 years ago.

Makes you wonder what else will change about what is 'known' and what is 'believed' about Jesus and his life, hmmm?

According to tradition, the children of Jopseph were old enough to live by themselves, and they remained with Mary in Nazareth while Joseph was living in Bethlehem. When Joseph took Mary to Bethlehem, his sons remained in Nazareth.

There was a census, as ordered by caeser. All the men had to go back to their place of origin so as to help the empire count how many people were in each city. Joseph came from Bethlehem.

The bible says Joseph and Mary didn't "know" each other untill after Jesus was born. To "know" in a bible sense is to have sex. They were free to be husband and wife after Jesus was born.

There is no evidence, other than later legends made up to explain Jesus' siblings, that Joseph had other children.

If it is true....
Then they may have been with there Grandparents,or their own mothers

Plus the Romen General census need all MEN to go back to their place of birth every 14yrs. women and children didnt really travel after all the men would be back within a couple of days/months.
But apparently Mary&Joseph were newly weds so they decided that she would go with him
