Honey has the same glycemic effect as white sugar. I don't know how much coffee you drink, but if more than 3 cups a day, I would advise you to learn to like your coffee without it. You need to limit your fruits also. Probably one or two a day would be o.k. Find a glycemic index chart and try to stick with those fruits that have lower numbers, such as berries, and apples. I have little faith in the medical establishment's knowledge of nutrition. That could be why they have such bad luck treating diabetics. Diabetes can be reversed in a few weeks of eating right and exercising. Google Mike Adams and look up Diabetes.

Horses will not have various fruit and veggies. They are naturally intended to devour just about all grass. It's okay to provide them things as treats, however they don't want those things every day. Actually, too much different meals can give them diarrhea. NO horses do not consume milk or eggs. This will make them very in poor health. A horse would consume tea leaves in grain, but they're going to no longer drink tea. Horses do not eat rice or honey. Most horses won't eat fruits which might be very acidic, like oranges, lemons, tomatoes, mango, and many others. They could consume the other veggies oftentimes. Within the wild, horses will lick and even eat clay and soil with plenty of minerals in it. Horses saved with the aid of people should have a mineral block and a salt block. If you wish to supplement your horse's food regimen, buy a respectable supplement like Equishine and give it a few treats a day. A horse does no longer need a giant quantity of stuff instead of simple grass or hay. Horses are not people!

Don't sweat it. It's not the sugar that makes you diabetic. There's a link on my diabetes info webpage to a Dr. McDougall's site where he explains that it's mostly a poor diet and lack of exercise that causes type 2 diabetes. It's not sugar. I've never added sugar or gone overboard with sweets, but I'm still diabetic. Why? Because I ate poorly, blimped up, and sat around doing nothing for years. Now that I'm taking care of myself at 55, I'm in better health than I was in my 30s. Read more here:

It is frutose, and not as bad as sucrose, but with diabeties, it can be dangerous. I would not have you eating a lot of fruit, or thinking that you can just use honey like you would sugar. I would definately tell you to check your blood sugar, and talk to a doctor about this.

Fruits are good for you and so is a small amount of honey. There are several reasons that would account for a slightly elevated glucose level. Keep on trucking.

I believe your doctor was referring to fruits high on the Glycemic Index. The fruits low on the Glycemic Index are:

Apples
Lemons
Satsumas
Pears
Cherries
Berries
Kiwis
Apricots
Grapefruits
Cantaloupes
Tomatoes
Tangerines
Oranges
Limes
Mangos
Peaches
Dates
Honeydews
Grapes
Plums
Avocados
Pumpkin
Raspberries
Strawberries
Blackberries

These of course need to be eaten in moderation. Eating too much of anything can be a bad thing. I hope this helps.

They are fine. Include the calories in your diabetic diet. I think you need to consult a dietician at the local hospital on diet.
