It is perfectly normal to have a vaginal odor. The odor is usually pretty inoffensive and is a natural part of being a woman. During puberty the vaginal area secretes more sweat and tends to be moister and therefore more aromatic (smelly). You may also notice that the odor changes as your period cycle changes, becoming more noticeable right around menstruation.

There is an interesting fact behind why all women have a specific odor. Sex organs smell because it is part of their function. There are pheromones, which are "sex attractors" in the vaginal fluids that are secreted. These fluids are actually there to arouse sexual interest. Humans are no different from other species in the animal kingdom in this respect, however we do not use this odor to attract other species per say.

It is not suggested to continue douching, or using feminine sprays. These products may produce irritation and discharge by altering the body's natural secretions and pH. Keeping yourself clean by washing with a mild soap and warm water daily should be a good routine. To help with excess sweating in that area it may help to avoid wearing tight clothing and always wear cotton underwear to allow the body to breath.

Her odor is probably ordinary and nothing to be alarmed about. However if you do notice a terribly strong odor or abnormal discharge, you may want to consult a physician. For a more thorough description of what to look for check out.

Seriously theres alot of silly answers here... I mean your probably being serious about your question so people shouldnt be so immature when a question(s) serious as this comes.

Let me just put it this way, " A smelly Vagina, is not a healthy Vagina" so she needs to go to the Gyno and check it out ASAP!

It could most likely be an yeest infection which is common for many of us women, but still she needs to be checked properly by a proffesional.

Keep in mind she also needs to be eating a healthy diet, which consists of fruits and vegtables and don't forget the meat.

Good luck

Fishy oder = infection. Usually Trich or Bacterial Vaginois. Both requre a trip to the doctor. If it's trich both you and your wife need too take pills for a week. If it'sbacterial vaginois, your wife needs antibiotics for a week to 10 days. No sex until she goes back to be rechecked.
Any smelly from down there that is worse than normal needs to be investigated by a doctor. An untreated infection can progress to PID, which can be fatal or cause serious scaring making her infertile.

This can be caused by a yeast infection, by a urinary tract infection, or an intrauterine infection. She needs to see a doctor for a pelvic exam. The doctor will take a culture to see what is growing in there and will prescribe antibiotics for the infection. An OB/GYN would be the best choice here. Make sure she sees one this week, the sooner the better.

It depends on what you call smelly. If it smells yeasty or fishy or some other unpleasant odor then she needs to see a doc but if it just a normal female type odor then you can't do much about it. Be sure she doesn't use soap near her vagina and doesn't douche. She should also consider only 100% cotton underwear.

sounds like infection, drs advise against nylon panties, douching, feminine sprays because they can do more harm than good. Also most women don't dry well enough ... laughed at the doc when he said blow drying is best ... and cotton undies of course. but she should see a dr for a true med.evaluation. yeast infections are the mild end ... you don't want to find out that its more because it's not taken care of from the start.

Have you thought about buying yourself a blowup doll? Then you could just hose it out.
Are you sure this isn't just an excuse to get out of 'turkey time'? The cool thing about us females is each of us has our own unique musk. If your poor wife is clean and has been to the doc to rule out any infection YOU may have given her, then it's probably her own, lovely womanly scent.
Come on, we have to put up with some pretty foul man smells! (BbbbbbbPPPP ring any bells?)

there could be a number of reasons for it smelling foul. it could be a yeast infection or std. she should go see her gyno. douching or using products like that are too harsh and sometimes cause the foul smell. tell her not to clean with anything other than a sensitive skin soap like Dove unless her doctor tells her to.
