Ok, first off don't listen to the person who said HIV can't live in the air...*sigh*....yes, it needs a host, but it can live for hours outside of the host.
Secondly, there are a couple of things you need to consider here. Firstly, is that this pathogen infects when exchanges of bodily fluids happen. So in this circumstance...it is possible. the question is however, if it is probable.
And the answer is no, it's not very probable. The claws are probably not going deep enough to transfer this virus. With that having been said...there is still that possibility and hey, better safe than sorry.
The smart thing to do here trim your cat's claws, so that they cannot break the skin.

yes I would be concerned any blood transmission from one person to another with someone who has HIV is horrible... your are more likely to get HIV from the cat doing that then kissing them, unless they have a cut in there mouth...
