But of coarse. Smoking is the cause of everything now-a-days.

Smoking does not in and of itself cause diabetes; however, diabetics have a higher risk of cardiovascular disease due to hypertension etc...
Smoking will increase the risk of a heart attack and stroke among diabetics. Smoking is not healthy at all for anyone, but diabetics need to avoid smoking like the plague.

More people who smoke get diabetes than those who do not (per capita) and for a very good reason. Strangely enough and not well known, smoking puts sugar in your blood. That is one reason people eat less when they are smokers. The idea that because not all smokers get diabetes means it isn't related, is unconvincing. Not all smokers get cancer either. However, their chances are greatly improved.

smoking does NOT cause diabetes... wow, where do people get their answers???? Yes, smoking has a lot of negative effect on your health, but it does not cause diabetes. I know people who don't smoke, don't hang around smokers, don't even go to clubs where all you see is a cloud of smoke, yet they are diabetics. I also know some who are chain smokers, and dont have diabetes...

Smoking and diabetes both cause circulation problems. If you have diabetes, smoking is twice as bad for you as someone without diabetes.

Smoking isn't related to diabetes, but compounds the vascular damage that diabetes causes.
Poorly controlled diabetes can cause severe damage to blood vessels and arteries. Diabetics are prone to illness caused by compromised blood vessels, (blindness, heart disease, erectile dysfunction) and smoking aggravates those problems.

Smoking can create worse cardio-vascular problems for people with diabetes. This particular link explains that well:
