You're comparing apples and oranges. Grams are weight and liters are volume. There are 1000 milligrams to a gram and 1000
milliliters to a liter. The weight of a liter depends on what it is as does the size of a gram. If you are not used to thinking in metric, a liter is roughly a quart, 5 milliliters is about a teaspoon. There are about 30 grams to an ounce, a kilogram (1000 grams) weighs 2.2 pounds.

mg is a measurement of weight, and ml is a measurement of volume. The two can not be converted. They do not measure the same thing.
