Yeah, have to agree with Peter J. The flight itself should only take a day if he is coming in on a commercial airline. After that, its going to depend. Depending on the airport, he will either be bussed or flown (probably the former) to your base. Hopefully he will be able to call you when he gets to Germany or into the States to give you some sort of notice. Are you familiar with FRG (Family Readiness Group)? You can contact the FRG leader for his company (or battery) and they should be able to tell you better.

Since you are his gf and not his wife, you might have to go through his mom or whoever he has listed as next of kin- but if the FRG knows you, this probably won't be a problem.

I'm glad you will be able to see him for Christmas! .

You're so lucky!! My husband was supposed to get leave in January and he won't be home on leave until June now. So, enjoy it, you are so very lucky!
I don't know how long it takes, it took three days for him to get to Kuwait. So, I don't know. But he'll be there in the end! Happy Holidays, you!

oh, anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks before he is released. if he's coming home on R&R, it won't be as bad, but if he is coming home from the deployment itself it could take longer because they have to turn in all their gear and get debriefed on how to reintegrate into a society where they aren't in constant peril.

It should only take him one day to get to Kuwait then one day at Kuwait then one day to DFW. Kuwait is usually the only hold up for the ones going home from Afghanistan.
