When you say BLOOD COUNT this primarily indicates the blood components like the red blood cell, white blood cell, hemoglobin, hematocrit.. BUT it does not test STD's. There is a different blood test required..a more specific one and not just a mere blood count. Although blood count can show signs of infection that will give the doctor an idea that there is something not right inyour body..that is the time he/she can request for a more specific blood test depends on what the doctor diagnosed based on the blood count, and the patients signs and symptoms. Hope this helps. God bless

you didn't complete your question. a full blood count looks at red, white and other blood cells. this can tell drs if you need any supplements, have infection, are anaemic ect. all tests will require your consent for them to take the sample (unless in emergency situations) ask what is being tested and why before they take the samples. most drs and nurses are happy to explain things and encourage you to make informed decisions on your health

It depends on what the blood screen is for....hepatitis, syphillis, T-cell count, white cell count, etc. The list is long.
If this is a sexual health question, the standard check in the UK is syphillis, HIV from a GUM. You can get your GP to request a hepatitis screen.

To loraleigh: Huh? Have you not heard of HIV at the very least?
