In 'The Old Days' I knew, we ate real apfelkuchen and received large jars of homemade chutney, sauerkraut and jam. We ate German rye bread, pumpernickel bread, sunflower bread and potato bread. Fried potatoes with butter, onion and brown sugar. We ate rainbow trout stuffed with butter, rice and lemon.
Frikadellar, a pork dish I couldn't stand. Not a fan of meat. I do like Canadian and European cheeses. While I will admit that German wine is good, I am sensitive to all wine and prefer the beer and Jagermeister.

Steak tartar. Very unhealthy. My Tia used to eat it all the time and she got really sick from the bacteria in raw meat. They still eat a lot of it in Russia.
